Scientific Coordinator in ELISE (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L)
ELLIS (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems, https://ellis.eu) is a European AI network of excellence. It focuses on fundamental science, technical innovation and societal impact. The job opening is part of the ELISE project that has recently been established by ELLIS and is going to be funded by the EU within the ICT-48 program. You will work closely and collaboratively with scientists, other research coordinators, students, programmers, administrative staff, IT support and central scientific facilities to help achieve the scientific goals of the ELLIS initiative. We offer highly interesting, challenging and varied tasks at the interface between science and administration in a highly topical field of research. Scientific Coordinator in ELISE (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L)
The employment will begin on 01.09.2020 for a period of three years.
Tasks and responsibilities
You will support, coordinate, and/or manage
- scientific collaborations and scientific collaboration contracts
- third party funding (proposals, planning, administration, reporting)
- scientific visits (PhD students, interns, sabbaticals, talks, etc.)
- press contacts and press releases
- budget planning
- preparation of evaluation reports
- preparation for steering board meetings
- maintenance of the website, application portal
- demonstrations, external visits, presentations
- workshops and other internal and external events
- general administrative processes at the department
- recruitment of excellent PhD students including preparation of advertisements and interviews
- supporting students with organizational issues and keeping track of their achievements
Requirements
- The applicant should have completed an advanced degree (Master or equivalent, ideally a PhD) in natural sciences, engineering and/or related fields.
- Knowledge of standard software packages is required.
- We expect very good command of both English and German (at least C1 level) as well as the willingness and capability to learn about the research topics.
- Professional experience in running structured, international PhD programs and/or in research administration would be an asset.
- We expect that candidates would be prepared to do business trips in Europe as part of their job.
